About KB Fiscalité
KB Fiscalité inc. unites a tax lawyer and a tax accountant in Vaudreuil-Dorion to plan and implement tax strategies for businesses and individuals across Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Greater Montreal and Quebec.
Who is KB Fiscalité?
KB Fiscalité inc. is a firm of tax professionals located at 24 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Avenue in Vaudreuil-Dorion that brings a tax lawyer and a tax accountant together in a single practice. The firm’s mission is to design tax planning around each client’s actual situation, and then carry it through to implementation, from the legal documents to the tax filings.
Tax questions are rarely purely legal or purely financial. Because both disciplines work side by side, one team can take a corporate reorganization from legal analysis through to the federal T2 and Quebec CO-17 corporate returns, without handing the file back and forth between separate firms or splitting responsibility for the outcome.
How did the firm come together?
KB Fiscalité grew out of two careers devoted to taxation. In 2010, Ante Kumanović, CPA, LL.M. Fisc., founded Kumanović et Associés to serve the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, after gaining experience at Deloitte & Touche LLP, BDO LLP and mid-sized accounting firms. A graduate of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, he holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in taxation from HEC Montréal.
Thierry Bouchard, LL.B., D. Fisc., is a lawyer and a member of the Barreau du Québec since 2009. He earned his law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke in 2008, followed by a graduate diploma in taxation with a concentration in tax planning from the same university, and has practised corporate and tax law exclusively since the start of his career.
Who does the firm serve?
KB Fiscalité serves businesses and individuals in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, across Greater Montreal and throughout Quebec. Most mandates fall into five client profiles, covering the full life cycle of a business or a family’s wealth.
| Client profile | Typical needs |
|---|---|
| Business owners | Corporate reorganization, purchase and sale of a business, shareholder agreements, T2 and CO-17 returns |
| Incorporated professionals | Professional incorporation, income splitting, asset protection |
| Families and individuals | Estate planning, discretionary trusts, personal tax returns |
| Estates | Taxes of the deceased and of the estate, post-mortem planning, support for liquidators (Quebec’s term for estate executors) and heirs |
| Non-residents | Non-resident tax returns and Canadian and Quebec filing obligations |
The firm also handles consumption taxes (the 5% GST, the 9.975% QST, excise taxes and customs) and tax litigation before the CRA and Revenu Québec, including representation during an audit.
How does the firm work?
Sound tax planning happens before a transaction closes. Selling, transferring or winding up first and asking questions afterward forecloses most of the worthwhile options.
The firm’s professionals are members of the APFF (Association de planification fiscale et financière), which keeps the practice current as the rules evolve, intergenerational business transfers under Bill C-208 being one recent example. Thierry Bouchard serves as the firm’s designated privacy officer. To start a conversation, write to info@kbtax.ca or call (514) 394-0848.
