Who is Thierry Bouchard?

Thierry Bouchard, LL.B., D. Fisc., is a tax lawyer and co-founder of KB Fiscalité inc. Called to the Barreau du Québec in 2009, he has practised exclusively in corporate and tax law since the very start of his career. That focus means corporate structures, tax legislation and the way the two interact are his daily work rather than one practice area among many.

What training supports his practice?

Mr. Bouchard’s training pairs law with specialized taxation. He earned his law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke in 2008, was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 2009, and went on to complete a graduate diploma in taxation at the Université de Sherbrooke with a concentration in tax planning. Because he is both the planner and the drafter, the legal documents a tax plan requires (corporate resolutions, trust deeds, agreements) are prepared by the same professional who designed the strategy in the first place.

What kinds of files does he handle?

Mr. Bouchard handles the firm’s legal mandates, corporate reorganizations, shareholder agreements, incorporation of businesses and professionals, intergenerational business transfers, purchases and sales of businesses, estate planning, asset protection and the effective use of a discretionary trust. He also represents taxpayers in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec. Like the firm’s other professionals, he is a member of the APFF (Association de planification fiscale et financière).
